With more than 70 years of experience on the frontlines of wildlife conservation, Defenders of Wildlife is well-positioned to protect our natural heritage. We have one of the foremost female experts at the helm in Jamie Rappaport Clark, whose lifelong commitment to wildlife and conservation led her to choose a career in wildlife biology that has spanned both the federal government as a former Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the nonprofit community. Even in times that seem hopeless for wildlife, we have great success and continue to make a difference.
We use sound science in our decision-making and we’re keen to hold everyone accountable for protecting our natural heritage. Wildlife and public lands are for every single American and we will work with anyone willing to join us in our pursuit of slowing and stopping extinction. That effort starts on the frontlines limiting human-wildlife conflict and stopping lethal retaliation. Our goals include increasing wildlife populations but also being able to live with them.
And every day, we continue to push the envelope of what’s possible in wildlife conservation. We have an incredibly innovative team working on the extinction crisis from every angle. We influence policy, implement coexistence measures on the ground, raise awareness, litigate, restore habitats, and speak out. And we couldn’t do any of this without all our members and supporters who share our passion for wildlife.
